Scripture~
Leviticus 17-18, Psalm 54, Luke 18

I am so moved by the passages in the Old Testament . . . obviously these are scriptures that cause much division today in our society . . . some say that God was only saying this to protect His children as they were in the wilderness. Telling them not to eat blood to keep disease down, to not bone the relatives because you get Kentuckians that way (couldn’t help it); to not have sex with animals . . . and while I agree that these would be protective statutes . . . I don’t think they were meant “just for the children in the wilderness”. To listen to the undertones that repeat through out the passages, “I AM the Lord”, “I AM your God” . . . to me it seems more like a loving father setting rules for His children. Warning them of the depravity we are capable of if left to our own devices.
You know . . . I can’t help but think about the passage in Luke . . . these people that are following Christ, seeing the miracles He is performing, participating in His healing, actually touching and breaking bread with the King . . . and yet in a little while these same people will be claimoring for His execution. These were with Him, and they turned so quickly; how much harder it is for us who do not physically see or touch . . . to stay true to the course. Not to say that we have more of a right to stray; on the contrary, because of scripture we have more desire to follow after the King, to learn His will and follow the path.

Merciful Father, thank you for Your Word. The message of Love and Justice that flows from Your throne to our ears Lord; thank You for Your beautiful beautiful Word.
