Scripture~
Deuteronomy 5-6, Psalm 84, Acts 7
The ten commandments reiterated again to the people . . . it’s interesting to note where they are to post the law and how they are to treat it. To talk in the houses about the law, to meditate upon it. I’m ashamed to say that I don’t have the commandments in my house . . . but I’d like to see them posted elsewhere. This is something I must remedy.
I LOVE this passage:
10 For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
blessed is the one who trusts in you!
There are times that it is good to goad your enemy into a fight. Military leaders have used this tactic to cause your adversary to over extend themselves and expose a weakness. Those leaders could take a lesson from Stephen. With boldness he speaks truth. He recounts the journey of their fathers . . . then speaks the truth of what they have done. Again, he’s right . . . looking all through the old testament there is no prophet that they did NOT persecute. They read and heard the scripture but did not “listen”. All of the old testament was pointing to the holy one to come . . . and when He came . . . they did not see him.
