Scripture~
Exodus 13-14, Psalm 32, Mark 11

There is comfort that comes in the Old Testament passage from today’s reading, “I am the Lord”. Knowing that the God we serve was the same God that defeated the Egyptians, the mightiest power in the middle-east . . . God swallowed them up in the Red Sea. All the Israelites had to do was be silent . . . perhaps in our complaining and busyness we rob God of the ability to be glorified . . . to be more accurate, we are robbing ourselves of blessings and works that God wishes to do through us; if we would be silent and know that He is the Lord.
Still the Psalmist shows us another side of our God, His beautiful and wonderful mercy. In confessing our sins to Him He does not burn us at the stake or hold it over us or beat us about our mistakes. Instead He forgives, He loves . . . He holds us close like children. What a beautiful and awesome thing this amazing Grace we are given.
The more I read and learn about Christ on earth . . . I really can’t wait to meet Him. To put human traits to Him, to speak of His man-hood in how he dealt with those in the temple; how He spoke with authority regarding the fig tree and His words came to pass just the next morning. It’s with an almost ‘wit’ that He responds to those who question by which authority is He doing the deeds He is doing. Christ, as a man, is someone you’d just want to be around, to aspire to be more like Him. Add the fact that He KNOWS He’s about to suffer a horrific torture and death . . . He knows what lies before Him . . . yet He keeps on task, going about His Father’s business . . . wouldn’t you want to meet someone like that?
