I would imagine the Sadducees were more than a little annoyed at the fact that they could not squelch the name, power, and authority of Christ from Jerusalem.  This would be a frustration they would deal with time and time again and even to this day as those enemies of the faith come; they seek to blot out the name of Christ from history, but they will fail.  history is HIStory!
