Scripture~
Exodus 1, Psalm 25, Mark 4

Observation~
The Old Testament passage seems to speak of a turning point, where things started to go wrong. While I don’t see this happening in our own country to the extent that Pharaoh will take it . . . it is kind of the same as we face today with the immigrant situation. I think that anytime a people inside a country start to out-grow those who were there to start with . . . it can lay the foundation for strife ahead. I’m not saying I support illeagle immigration, just an observation.
The Psalmist seems to cry out to God for Him to be faithful and forgive him of his sins. It’s almost a pleading! But over and over again the them is that he be corrected, he the author be put back on the path . . . not that he’s blaming everyone else for his own mis-givings . . . but he realizes that his heart and his path needs repair.
I have always liked the scattering seed parable. To me it speaks to several things, one of which is how each Christian is different, how we grow (or don’t grow) depends on what we pay attention to and what type of roots we put down. The down side to this is I’m forced to ask myself what type am I? Am I a seed that fell on rocky soil? Am I a seed that will be or is being choked by vines? I think making the commitment to ‘soap’ it up is a way of putting down roots. Or at least strengthening what is there.

Application~
I see this applying to me in remaining faithful both to what God has commanded, the edicts I know to be true, and in following His path.

Prayer~
Lord my prayer is that I will continue to be faithful in putting down deep roots into the good soil that is your Word.
